Elfen Lied

i saw all of the Elfen Lied anime (in spanish tho lol) it was pretty good but it was very gory i never read the manga, have any of you ever read it?

The first episodes was pretty fun in fact. Some characters reaction were a bit grotesque, that's what made me laugh.
I didnot see the entire anime, just some key episodes. Indeed it was pretty gory and odd.

The same character beign sometimes good sometimes bad was pretty eerie too lol.

The little girl with dozen of vaporous killing hands was also freaky

By the way I love the opening with the graphical effects

i read the three first bookes but i prefer the anime.

I think the anime is better than the manga.
The drawings are better but you can try and see .

I think I can help you a little bit on the subject!

Elfen Lied was an outstanding piece of anime, very stylistic, gory (as we could love it) and the opening was very pleasant, with latin lyrics (and also a good reproduction of Gustav Klimt paintings, an austrian symbolist painter, who have worked with gold sheets on his art)...
The most well-known is Der Kuß, which is exposed actually at the Österreichische Galerie in Wien.

About the manga, it has been finished in November 2005, after a 12-book story.
The anime and the manga share the same storyline in majority, but the final is very different, because the broadcast of the anime has started before the ending of the initial material (like with Fullmetal Alchemist and Neon Genesis Evangelion ones).
I haven't read the manga but I think that the two visions could be seen by the advanced fans of the series, because of divergent developments between characters' stories and personal minds.
But I don't know if the entire manga-version is already published in Germany, scanlated in English, or even in German (we can always dream on )...
