| here is a mirror topic for the one posted in the French part of this forum...So here we can discuss about cooking (japanese food or not), if you wanna share your receips, you can ^^ As we are some multicultural members, it'd be great to show some specialities from your country. I'll start by my tries on japanese cuisine. I've been practicing a lot on how to make sushi (how to cook it, work it with your hand to make it resemble to the ones made on restaurants etc... So there it is : The tamagozushi (玉子寿司), that is to say omelet sushi. The 1st ones I've ever made, I was pretty proud of it. And it was tasty ^^ Then some onigiri (おにぎり), you can put many things inside an onigiri. here it was a prawn onigiri Also very good ^^ And to finish, the last one I've been cooking : maguro sushi (鮪寿司), that is to say tuna sushi. It's actually my favorite one! I used some wasabi for the first time, it's really strong, but delicious ^^ | |

I don't like the taste of tofu, but perhaps it was beacause it wasn't well-cooked (it was in a "do it by yourself" kit) In fact there's only few types of fishes I liked. I tried a lot of sushi in buffets, but some of them were really strange...I don't like salmon (raw or cooked), octopus (it's like eating a piece of rubber), fish eggs (they're like translucid balls and when you eat it the liquid explodes in your mouth, really strange), and calamari (tasteless)... By the way, what's your favorite food, the speciality of your county/ region... Where I live it's about crepes hmmmmm yumyummy~!

| Mexican is not that known in France in fact (as Mexico is much more far away). The only Mexican food I know is Old el Paso's Fajita kits, I've perpared one, it was very good, but the ingredients are quite expensive! | |

| *drools* I wish Mexican food can be better known in France, it sure won't be as in the US because there's nearly no Mexican in France, but at the time beign, I've eaten some food from wheat (that's from my culture), rice (asian food), and I'd like to eat more corn-based food...I see on TV people eating corn bread, and I wonder how it can taste (I've never been eating this kind of stuff T_T)
In France, because of the impact of people from Maghrebian countries on the culture, I can say that they're the equivalent of the Mexican community in the US. But actually...I don't like this kind of food...Except for the döner kebabs (WIKI PAGE)

I don't know if it's actual Chinese cuisine, but I like the Japanese snacks like prawn fritters or peanuts toffees - d90 a écrit:

It's really easy to make, it's nearly like making a pancake but lighter...Here's a recipe I've found on the net : - Citation :
- Ingredients :
- 200 gr [7 oz] flour / 4 eggs / 1/2 liter [17 fl oz] milk / 25 gr [1 oz] melted butter / 2 pinches salt - for sweet crepes, I like to add 3 Tbspoons sugar and 1 Tbspoon of rum. Method : - Put the flour, salt (and sugar) in a salad bowl, dip a shaft and put the eggs in. Turn with a wooden spoon and add the melted butter. Turn gently until you have incorporated all the flour (add some milk if you need but just enough). Now that the batter is soft but not liquid you have to turn very sharply so as to eliminate the lumps and obtain an homogeneous mixture. Finish pouring the milk slowly while turning. Leave the batter for at least one hour before cooking.
To prepare : Turn the batter. Heat a non-stick pan, put a light knod of butter in (swirl the pan to distribute the melting butter ; the pan must be hot enough to hear the butter fry but not too hot for the butter must not get brown !), pour a small laddle of batter on the pan while swirling it to distribute the batter evenly (this is the important trick !). Don't forget crepes must be very thin ! Cook until golden brown, turn the crepe upside down and cook the other side the same way. Put it in a large plate, stuff it and fold it into 4, or roll it. Do that again for each crepe. The point on crepes is that they must be very very thin In fact France has various type of crepes in different regions. In live in Brittany (N-W), and these kind of crepes has a lot of butter and are very crispyon the edge and melting inside. My favorite type of creme is the one with white chocolate
