I dunno know about your country, but here, in France, JMusic isn't that popular in the biggest part of the population...It's even barely known actually. So how did you discovered Japanese Music? Is it broadcasted in your country? Then how do you find JMusic product?

You can also talk about how you guys discovered you favorite artists.

For myself, I was in my Ayumi's fan era when I discovered MoMusu. Actually it was in an article from a magazine for Japanese fans which wasn't that kind with them, saying that it wasn't even listenable...But I decided to try to listen, and I absolutely fell in love for Shabondama. And little by little I discovered the other groups, and the hole H!P (the 1st one after MoMusu was Aya Matsuura with Good Bye Natsuo heart)

Finally I almost give up on Ayumi (just trying to continue collecting the PVs...) to be a Hello! Project superfan :Hare:
But I'm trying to widen my general JPop & KPop knowledge~

J-pop is not popular here in the US at all, some people don't even know what it is, people said things like "i don't know what a J-pop is " lol anyways i found out about J-pop with anime and i found out about one of my fav artist with the KH game, it was Hikki (Utada Hikaru) she's great, someone told me about W and i thought they were great so i went on youtube searching W then i came across a Berryz Koubou PV and fell in love with them and H!P soon followed, cuz of H!P i stopped listening to Hikki for a while lol
but now i'm back to listening to Hikki and H!P aswell ^^

Actually it looks like it the same thing as in France, I just thaught JPop was more well known in the US because the best JMusic site are based there. But anyway, just like you, the last person I ask about JPop said "what? miel pops??"
(miel pops being kinda breakfast crisps)

How long do you know JMusic then?
When I was in my Ayumi-fan period, I used to listen to Hikki too. I liked Travelling and Can You Keep A Secret? songs.
I also enjoy the full English album EXODUS (EXODUS'O3, Devil Inside <3), but as for now I completetely gave up with her, don't know why exactly...I heard the Passion song on some fan vid on Youtube, it was a pretty good song though.

i've been aware of it for a very long time ever since i was a little kid, but i guess you can say i just got into it seeing as now i am a bigger fan of j-pop, but i'ved like Hikki since KH came out in the US
i think it was like 2002 or something, around then i was about 12 years old.

i'm pretty sure there is a big number of people who like J-pop in the US but the number of people who don't even know what it is, is bigger

"what? miel pops??" that is so funny, i hope no one ever say something like that to me (i'd probably die of laughter)

Wow that was very early ^^
I really discovered JPop nearly 4 years ago, so it was around 2003~2004 in fact...[/quote]

Hmm...I see, probably the fact is that there is more people in the U than in France, that should be why there's more potential JMusic Fans...Also English is the international language, so it maybe normal if the best sites are in English.

LOLLL, In fact I was much more like :MinGaan: than laughing as I was suprised...

Anyways, do you guys try to preach the JMusic to the people you know in the real life?
Personnally I had a friend who had been keen on Ayumi hamasaki after I let him hear some trance remixes, but the biggest part I tried to convert into Jpopism did'nt react very well, claiming that JPop was shallow~ :Ochicomi:

no not realy some people don't care (it's their loss tho lol)
i guess it would be great if for once there was a famous Japanese singer in the US, theres Latinos, Whites, and Blacks but no Asians
all the famous Asians in the US are actors (at least i can't think of a famous Asain singer in the US) oh well ^^

I agree. same as in France there's white singers & singers for minoritary communities, such as black or maghrebian (morroco, tunisia & algeria) which are famous, in addition of US singers who, if popular in the US are popular worldwide.
I'e always wondered why Asian Music has always been ignored for so long. In France for example, the only international music we know is the American one.

Just for fun, I wanted to make someone listen to JPop and give me her point of you. So I sent her the preview of Gyaruru song (Besides I didn't choose the easiest one to like!) with this photo :

This is her point about about the song : "What the fuck is this piece of shit???????? Erm...I mean it's not my favorite kind of music..."
About the photo : "OMG! Are they transsexual?"

LOL XD As you said it's their loss :P I have enough love in myself to love JPop in the place of the rest of French people.

Perhaps because the US rules the world and therefore, it culture becomes predominant...For sure everyone knows who is Madonna...But do they know who's Ayumi Hamasaki? XD
I thinks everything who works in the US will work in the rest of the world whatever this thing is in fact. Things that appear to you as "national" is in fan international as US culture has spread worldwide. US artists are ruling French Topcharts, US films the Box Office chart etc...

I don't only like JMusic, but is can easily say that JPop reoresent 95% of what I'm listening. There's few thing from US or France that hit my time, but actually, before having discovered JMusic world, I didn't listen to music in general that much.
:Ame:
What a loss of time lol Maybe that's why I almost give up some of my past hobbies beacause of the lack of time : manga, video-games (hours & hours of Final Fantasy series~)

yeah me too before i got into Jmusic i wasn't realy into any kind of music, actually what made me into a big J-pop fan was H!P before when i was a Hikki fan i wasn't that much into Jmusic i just liked it.
i also liked t.A.T.u. becuz of the language change in their music
i liked how they had one song in Russain and a translation version in English most of their songs were like that, also with Hikki, Simple and Clean was the English version to Hikari. i loved how the artist them selves would be made to sing the songs in both languages. (i was a huge language nut lol i wanted to know so many different languages ^^)

Really, I also and a crush on t.A.T.u's All The Things She Said "HarDrum" Remix Video (I love electro music and remixes as you may see), which led me to the rest of their discography.
(a must-have heard remix by the way! If you don't have this I can share! :P)

I'd also love for a while Russian culture that I mainly discovered via the last Imperial Familly which reigned 'till 1917, and their dramatic death.
So the fact that they were Russian also helped to make me being interested in them.

But actually I prefered them when they was in their lesbian-prentending era, somehow I was a bit disapointed of this all thing being a marketing lie.

The last crush I had on a US artist was Cassie with her Long Way 2 Go song, which I kept listening to 24/7 before getting tired of for almost 3 months.

Anyways, if you are interested that much in languages I can give you a sample of FPop (French Pop) lol ^^

Here in Germany are very less J-Music fans, too :Ochicomi:

I discovered J-Pop through MoMusu's Say Yeah! ~Motto Miracle Night~
and Abe Natsumi's 22sai no Watashi. I've fallen in love with them the first time I listened to them heart
And a bit later I got into J-Rock through Gackt's Vanilla, Malice Mizer's BEAST OF BLOOD
and Kana's Chimame heart But I still prefer J-Pop.

I've heard of the fact of Yulia having a boyfriend too, but it was later having knowing 'em. Besides, I thought (or maybe I wanted to persuade myself that) it was a gossip. But indeed, being pregnant while pretending you're not interested in men is odd lol.
In fact I think they lost they support from many fans which may have thought they had been fooled away~
But in any ways, I think they were somehow pioneers, even if this whole thing was makerting ~__~

Actually for me it was the reverse : I started by being a Gackt-fan (Malice Mizer-fan too), before really getting into Ayumi Hamasaki, and then hello! Preoject~

(Anyway, Say Yeah! Motto Miracle Night is such a great song! YAY!)

Moi...Lolita is also one of my favorite! the Gourmandises song sounds nice too. I like the slight techno tunes in both these songs...

If you want here are the translations for the titles :
1-Moi...Lolita ~> I...Lolita
2-Lui ou Toi ~> Him or you
3-L'alizée ~> Alizé wind (wiki article)
4-JBG ~> JBG (James Bond Girl)
5-Mon maquis ~> My scrubland
6-Parler Tous bas ~> Talk lightly; Talk down
7-veni vedi veci ~> (latin sendence from Ceasar) "I came, I saw, I fought"
8-Abracadabra
9-Gourmandises ~> Greediness
10-A quoi rêve une fille? ~> What's a young girl's dream?

If you want the lyrics, just ask ^^ I'm glad you liked the album!

In fact, "girl" & "daughter" are the same word. But the "jeune" which means "young", show that the right translation is "young girl" rather than "young daughter". :Vuii:
But, indeed, I think that "to what a young girl dreams" is a closer translation ^^ Thanks :Mincontent:

I don't really like either, in fact I don't really matter, but if it his brodcasted in TV, I will listen anyways ^^ But they seem pretty famous in Germany!

Shanadoo? Never heard of them °_°
Actually I find that Germany is (barely) the only European country with Japanese artists produced in. For example Ayumi Hamasaki released few remix vinyls in there *_* *feel envious*

It's perhaps because Germany has alwayys been famous for its composers haha ^^
